The SAT requires a different test taking approach than is required on a regular school assessment. Since many of the best colleges look at SAT scores as part of their admission process, it is important to study for the SAT just as you would for any other class. in this 8 week course we will cycle through the 4 content areas that are tested on the SAT test. These area are: - Heart of Algebra - Problem Solving & Data Analysis - Advanced Math - Geometry & Trigonometry The first 4 weeks will focus on the formulas, core concepts covered in each content area, and direct problem solving as well as some test taking strategies. We will also look at how to use Desmos to solve problems, since this is the online calculator for the SAT. Each week the practice sets will be focused in the content area, with more options for mixed practice if desired. The second 4 weeks will cycle back through the content areas, looking at more difficult problems and reinforcing the test taking strategies. Practice sets will be mixed and will include questions from all math content areas. As well, if time permits at the end of each class we will play a Kahoot! quiz game. If time does not permit students will be able to access the games for solo play. The class will be structured as follows: 5 minutes - Welcome and Warmup 5 minutes - Review of any questions from the prior practice set 30 minutes - Content Area focus, Strategies, Desmos 10 minutes - Kahoot! Quiz Game Class will not be scheduled on January 28, February 28, March 1, or March 2. Note that SAT is a registered trademark of the College Board and is not affiliated with this class.
