I went on to learn from a number of great teachers who have helped me get started in my teaching career with their letter of recommendation. I have played in many bands which gives me special insight in how to guide students into being the very best drummer they can be. This and all my classes are taught with a friendly and informative atmosphere. I enjoy teaching young people and I enjoy helping people become more musical. This really shows in the way I teach and the way students learn and achieve. I encourage every student to interact as much as needed so everyone gains as much from their lesson as possible. Students can interact with me by either speaking or using chat. Let me know if you have any questions. See you at your lesson.
Learning Goals
The learning goals of this class are to become aware of three different notes. To see how they are written and to see that they have different values. Another goal is to be introduced to time signature which deepens a learners awareness of note values.
Our ultimate goal is to play these notes.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is Guy DeAngelo
I love showing drummers how to be musical.
I am kind, strong, full of life, and able to see what a student needs by the middle of our first lesson.
When I first started playing at a young age it was something I needed. Like eating and breathing I needed to play drums.
I spent many years learning from great teachers while at the same time playing in many bands putting what I was learning to use. I had no desire to be a rock star. I had a great desire to be the very best drummer I could be. Then I found people were inspired by my drumming and I wanted to do more. That is when I started giving lessons. Again I found people were being inspired by their lessons which also inspired me.
Playing and teaching drums is something that I love because there is always something new to do and to learn. From getting a difficult concept across to a student in a way that is easy to understand to writing a new song and playing the melody and the drum set at the same time. There is no getting away from learning new things and being in touch with how these experiences feel. l love the feeling when I see students growing and doing things they could not do moments before. I am absolutely positive that with the right instruction students can feel what they play from day one!
Playing drums gives us things to deal with at many different levels. As your teacher I am always on the look out for how many things students are dealing with at any one time. While growth is great, being overwhelmed is never necessary.
I am new to the Outschool platform but not new at all to teaching. I offer five camera angles with the ability to zoom in on one camera at a time.
I offer materials free with lessons using any or all of my current catalog of self-published, tried and proven lesson books. All lesson books are put together with large print making them easy to read and are available for the very beginner to the most advanced drummer.
I also offer what I call "Breakaway Lessons". These lessons are for drummers ages 3 to 18 that want to bring melody to their drumming. There are as many ways to accomplish this as there are creative drummers willing to try something new.
I offer all the things every drummer needs with styles like Rock, Jazz, Funk, Fusion, World Drumming, Rudiments and the list goes on and on.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my teaching style. If you choose to sign up for One to One lessons or any upcoming group class, I assure you that your children will be treated with care and learn from a world class drummer and drum teacher.
One to One classes are based on each student's musical needs and can flow as needed while coming back to review what we have already covered because, let's face it, it is not a skill until it is proven. Even still when you can feel what you are playing you can play it anywhere.
Future group classes will include:
Feel What You Play For Beginners: Rhythm Basics.
Feel What You Play For Beginners: Basic Beats and Fills.
Feel What You Play: Rudiments.
Record Your Playing For Ages 15 - 18.
Mix Your Recordings For Ages 15 -18.
Make Your Own Music Video For Ages 15 - 18.
Breakaway Lessons For Ages 3 -5, Ages 6 -8, Ages 9 - 11, Ages 12 - 14, Ages 15 - 18.
