Class Experience
US Grade Kindergarten - 5
Are you looking for an experienced and licensed interventionist to help your child make growth in reading? I have over 10 years of classroom teaching experience with masters in responsive literacy. I have served as a K-5 reading interventionist and have been extensively trained in the science of reading, which aligns closely with the Orton Gillingham approach, and I am passionate about helping students fall in love with reading and achieve their reading goals. I'd love to help your student! In our initial meeting, I'll assess your student on their current reading knowledge of phonograms, word structure, spelling, and reading level. I'll use this information to plan tailored lessons towards your child's reading needs. I have been extensively trained in the science of reading and will use this structure in my lessons. In each session you can expect your child to practice phonological awareness, phonograms (letter sounds), segmenting and blending new words, reading decodeables, answering comprehension questions and practicing spelling rules. I love to use hands on activities and games to help your child practice their new skills! Teacher expertise and credentials
I am certified early childhood educator (prek-3rd grade) and K-12 reading teacher. I have been an educator for over 10 years, and have experience teaching both in person and online. I have taught kindergarten, first grade, third grade, a stem/engineering elective class and served as a K-5 math and literacy interventionist.
I received a B.S. in Human Development and Early Childhood Education from Colorado State University and have a M.A. in Curriculum & Instruction with a concentration in Responsive Literacy. I have been extensively trained by the Colorado Department of Education in structured literacy which follows the principles behind the science of reading.
I absolutely love working with students and their families! I love teaching K-5 math, literacy, and STEM classes. I am a big believer that every child can fall in love with learning, and I love showing them how much fun it can be to take risks, try new things, and gain confidence in their abilities!
I love to run, hike, bake, read, and spend time with my family. My husband and I have a one year old son and we spend most of our free time chasing him around, playing trucks, taking him to parks, and showing him the mountains that we love.
I am looking forward to meeting you, and working with your family!
