This class is taught in a 1:1 setting and is primarily for elementary-age students. We will focus on explicit phonics instruction, oral reading fluency, and/or reading comprehension, depending on the student's needs.

US Grade Kindergarten - 3
This is a 1:1 reading class for elementary-age students! We will practice our phonics skills and decoding, oral reading fluency, and/or practice reading comprehension strategies. I like to use engaging activities and games whenever possible! If you book this class, please message me the grade of your learner and any areas of focus they may need. You can also include some of the learner's interests and I will try to incorporate them in our readings. Please message me if you have any questions, and I look forward to working with your learner!
Learning Goals
Students will practice decoding words using new phonics skills. We will practice reading new words in sentences, before moving on to longer passages. More advanced students will work on reading comprehension strategies.

Hello! My name is Miss Courtney and teaching children to read is my passion! My classes focus on explicit phonics instruction, improving oral reading fluency, as well as comprehension strategies.
I am a licensed intervention specialist for grades K-12, and I received a Master of Education degree from Cleveland State University. I am also working towards my BCBA certification.
I have been working with students in public schools for about 3 years. Previously I worked as a private tutor for elementary age students on reading, spelling, and writing.
