This is an exciting adventure that takes Jack and Annie to the moon with a mission to release Morgan from a spell. Will Jack and Annie find the help they need to solve the riddle? Read the fun book, write 4 trivia questions and prepare to play some fun learning games and create a rocket with host Ms. Kyria. This is one of the best ways to sample the hands-on Magic Tree House Book Clubs hosted by Ms. Kyria Kalata. You’ll get to see a little bit of what it's like to take part in the 4 or 8 week book club programs. There are some preparations you need to do before showing up to the class. 1. Read the whole book. If your kiddo reads for 20 minutes a day for 5 days most 2nd grade children can finish the book. Agree on a reading plan with your kiddo. 2. Create four trivia questions based on the book. 3. Select and write down the two character quotes from the book. 4. Make a special project like a drawing, or some kind of craft inspired from the book. About the books and the club programs: The Magic Treehouse books are great for children ages 6-9. They appeal to both boys and girls. They are designed to be “page-turners” because as the reader you simply have to know what’s going to happen next to Annie and Jack. I find both readers who desire chapter books but need a small step up love these as well as reluctant readers. There are 2 reading/comprehension levels in the series. The Magic Tree House books are designed for younger, first time chapter book and reluctant readers. The plot is very simple and the vocabulary stretches a reader just a little bit. The chapter and page count range for 80 to 110 pages with a predictable 10 chapters. Nearly every page has illustrations. The Magic Tree House Merlin Missions have a more complex plot making comprehension a little more challenging. There are more pages in each chapter making the books 10 to 12 chapters much longer. The illustrations are cut down by 50%. The books are designed for the reader to jump in and read any book of interest. They have a prologue at the beginning to help fill in any important details. Now to keep the reading excitement going this book club will be very hands-on! We’ll share artwork, play games based on the book, and craft something from the book's main theme while we chat about the story. This book club is a way to help kiddos find reading excitement by bringing books to life through different activities like crafts and games. Each activity also helps children practice important skills like public speaking, describing activities, comprehension, following directions, fine motor skills, and problem solving skills. All of these skills and more are developed over the 4 to 8 weeks in a way that children enjoy them as if it's candy and not gross vegetables. All Magic Tree House and Magic Tree House Merlin Mission books are works of fiction and include some fictional ideas about possible real historic events. They are NOT meant to be used as historical text books in any way. They are a great way to inspire historical exploration and fact finding. What we know about history is always changing as historians and archaeologists uncover new facts. The goal of these books is to inspire children to learn more about a time period Jack and Annie visit, the main theme, to build reading and comprehension confidence. This is club DOES NOT talk about history because the books are fantasy fiction filled with magic and wizards. Miss Kyria, the book club host, created the club around these books to help young readers fall in love with reading.

教師專業知識和證書
Miss Kyria Kalata, a former journalist and currently a dedicated tutor, teacher, and writer, fell in love with the Magic Tree House book series many moons ago when her son began reading chapter books. She witnessed firsthand the “magical” impact of these books, as they were the first chapter books her son actually wanted to read. Miss Kyria was captivated by how the books sparked her son’s curiosity and prompted him to ask questions about the themes. She discovered that the series provided a wonderful opportunity to explore geography, animals, mythology, and history. By leveraging her son’s excitement about the topics, she used these books as a tool for child-led learning, fostering a love for reading and exploration in her students.
