I’m Kyria Kalata, an author, tutor, ESL teacher, and the proud founder of the House of Education. With a background as a TV journalist and a veteran homeschool mom, I’ve explored all mainstream educational options to bring the best to my students.

My classes are centered around reading, writing, and goal setting - the fundamental skills that empower children to take control of their educational journey.

As a child diagnosed with dyslexia, I faced academic limitations. But I discovered that the library was a treasure trove, filled with textbooks and teaching resources that transformed my life. I overcame the barriers set by my learning label, and I’m passionate about helping children everywhere do the same.

Today, I often meet parents who are frustrated because they struggle to teach their child to read. I’ve seen mothers and daughters at my doorstep in tears, feeling defeated. I believe that reading should be a joy, not a source of pain. With 12 years of experience teaching children aged 3-18 to read (including many for whom English is a second language), I’ve developed fun, innovative methods that make the transition to reading natural and enjoyable.
