Students will learn about the historical circumstances of witchcraft accusations, and specifically the situation in Salem. Students will also learn literary analysis techniques as we explore the play The Crucible in light of the actual historical events.
I have a master's degree in history from the University of Cambridge and 17 years teaching experience. I have taught approved AP European, US, and English Literature courses for many years. I am trained in both historical research, as well as literary and textual analysis.

The witchcraft trials do involve capital punishment and some discussion of the crimes and how the victims were executed. Parental guidance is suggested. While this class will avoid any graphic discussion of the executions, typical punishments for victims of witchcraft accusations will be mentioned.
