課堂經歷
Visual Learners need to write too! (And I don’t just mean labelling your doodles). Writing doesn’t have to be frustrating especially if it is taught by a visual learner TO visual learners! In this ongoing club, learners meet every week for a quick visual explanation of a writing concept. After reviewing this week’s writing topic, the class is guided through a visual grammar activity using their medium of choice (pen and paper, paint, tablet drawing program, etc) to visually represent the grammar concept. This is a great opportunity for visual learners to receive some formal writing instruction while enjoying the company of other visual learners and future writers. Learners also have the weekly opportunity to showcase their vocabulary or grammar concepts to other members of the class if they choose. This is a full curriculum, on-going course that meets to write in different styles and genres, explore different aspects of grammar (that includes common spelling errors), and examines a different vocabulary word each week. Topics do not build off each other from week to week and some weeks may circle back around to previous topics depending on interest. Week 1: Writing focus: argumentative/ grammar focus: sentence combining/ Whimsical Vocabulary Week 2: Writing focus: expository/ grammar focus: sentence correction/ Etymology Vocabulary Week 3 Writing focus: descriptive/ grammar focus: sentence variety/ SAT Vocabulary Week 4 Writing focus: narrative/ grammar focus: semi-colons/ Neologisms
學習目標
Every week students will learn by watching/ listening to a brief lecture about the sketchnoting skill of that week and then they will practice sketchnoting together.
Students will be encouraged to share their doodles as class progresses.
Some sketchnote lectures may include tips on note structure, some on organization, some on how to doodle icons, symbols, and nodes.
No lecture will exceed 15 minutes.
Subjects may circle back to previous weeks, but no classes will build on previous classes, meaning students can skip weeks as needed. All classes are learner-led and learner-interest driven
