This class is meant to introduce students to the great thinkers of Military History who codified influential strategic principles. As a One-Time class students will encounter the major theorist, his major work, his main concepts and his impact on the conduct of warfare. For example, students will learn about Carl von Clausewitz who fought against and with Napoleon - this experience allowed him after the wars to write about Napoleon's "genius" for warfare in his book Vom Krieg (On War). So...
- Students will review the historical context of the formation of strategic thought throughout the ages. Students will learn about the strategic concepts which have guided the Great Captains of Military History. Students will learn about the individual theorists and their background. Students will learn about the impact of these ideas and concepts on military operations in history.
I hold a Master's Degree in Military History (Land Warfare) from American Military University and am a certified History teacher with 30 years experience. Plus I really like Military History.
