*This class is the next layer of financial literacy skills learned in the Practical Skills Camp* It helps student accelerate the "Earning" component of fundamental financial literacy through business creation. ESA note: This class is structured to accept ESA funds for participating states and families. Entrepreneurship is a vital skill for the future, equipping young people with the ability to innovate, solve problems, and drive positive change. 🌟 In today's fast-paced and ever-evolving world, the ability to think creatively and adapt to new challenges is more important than ever. 🚀 By learning entrepreneurship, teens develop critical thinking, resilience, and financial literacy, which are essential for personal and professional success. 📚💡 Moreover, entrepreneurship fosters a growth mindset, encouraging young individuals to embrace challenges and learn from failures. 💪 These skills not only prepare them for a wide range of career paths but also empower them to create opportunities and contribute meaningfully to society and the economy. 🌍 Many teens want to know how to become an entrepreneur. This is the first step. Here’s what they’ll learn: Entrepreneurship Basics 🌎 Idea Generation Product/Service Creation Idea testing Marketing concepts Basic business financial literacy Developing a business plan Class is taught though a combination of lecture, discussion, and practice exercises that take place after class. Late arrivals will be admitted at the discretion of the instructor Mr. Scott. Note on content: This class teaches economics concepts rooted in what are considered "Classical Economic Theory" which emerged from the enlightenment in Western Europe in the 1700s. Language proficiency notice: students will be discussing complex financial terms and ideas. A very strong English language proficiency is required to grasp the full understanding of the material. The pacing of the course is very intense. These ideas are broadly applicable in various regions of the globe, where individuals have access to retail and commercial banking services and market or mixed economies. While an attempt will be made to explain ideas so all students can understand, hyper local examples and command based systems fall outside these financial skills. The course has an implicit bias that wealth accumulation is societally acceptable, at least to a varying degree. Specifically, this class recognizes the ability to lend money at interest as a core concept within the financial world. It represents the importance of individuals being able to accumulate private property to pursue financial independence. Its foundational ideas are rooted in John Locke's principles of the right to hold and accumulate private property.

This class will discuss very real financial choices and concepts. Real world events may be discussed as they apply to student questions or topics of discussion.
The instructor's objective is to illustrate ideas and prompt students to think about this material as how it relates to their lives.
Sometimes, questions regarding how politics relates to financial ideas (especially taxes) will arise. The instructor seeks to explain various concepts from an informative perspective and does not seek to "sway" student's political opinions.
