每週 1-2 小時. I highly recommend that students complete homework in between Latin classes (especially during the longer gaps of time when we do not meet). I do not, however, usually assign specific homework from day to day. Homework assignments as well as tests/assessments are always optional, never required. If a student is struggling with a particular aspect of Latin and wants extra practice, please let me know and I can recommend customized work (from the textbook and workbook) to help shore up the weaker areas.

I am always happy to provide feedback on written work submitted via email! Whether it's an exercise from the workbook, a translation, or just a question about the lesson, students are welcome to use messaging to communicate with me about their Latin work and to get feedback from me. Students who translate frequently during class will also get immediate feedback as we process together their translation.

課堂經歷

This class will stretch students' understanding of Latin to new lengths as they draw connections between what they've already learned in Latin with the new and challenging grammatical concepts introduced in Intro-4. Students who have completed Intro to Latin Parts 1 through 3 should be well versed in Latin nouns by now, but in Intro-4, we will explore not only new case functions for nouns, but also expand our understanding of Latin verbs. Students will learn the full conjugation of present active indicative verb (all four conjugations) and begin incorporating them into readings. Additionally students will learn the full conjugation of the irregular linking verb (est/sunt) in the present tense. Students will also learn about participles, which are verbal adjectives that blend elements of adjectives with elements of verbs into a neat hybrid word form. 

Most days we begin by chanting our noun charts together and having a miniature grammar lesson that reviews some concept from earlier in Latin. Lessons are largely structured around reading/translation from the textbook and discussing the grammar and structure of the Latin language there. We will also complete exercises from the Exercitia Latina workbook frequently (more so than in Latin-1-2-3 classes) in order to review older concepts and vocabulary while also forging ahead into new territory. Student participation is key to keep this moving and to give students immediate feedback on their progress.

Students will learn 3rd declension neuter nouns as well as 3rd declension adjectives. Students will learn 4th declension nouns. Students will learn Latin infinitive verbs (present tense, active and passive voice) and several ways to use them.
