Children will learn how a published author writes a story with a clear beginning, middle and end. Children will see how details, such as dialogue, actions, thoughts and feelings, are added to bring stories to life. Children will learn by demonstrations, and by writing their own stories. Writing conventions such as spelling, grammar and punctuation will be taught as needed. During each lesson children will get a chance to go through the complete writing process of planning, drafting, editing, revising, and publishing (sharing) their completed narratives. Week of Aug. 23: When I First Got My Dog Week of Aug. 30: At the Beach With My Dog Week of Sept. 6: My Dog in the Rain Week of Sept.13: Scared at Night Week of Sept. 20: At Grandma's House Week of Sept. 27: My Dog and the Cat

Children will learn how to write personal narratives with a clear beginning, middle and end. They will learn to stay on topic and add lots of details to bring their stories alive.
