-Students will learn how to craft true stories with a beginning, middle, and end. -They will learn to stay on topic and use detailed pictures to match their writing. They'll also learn how to describe their reaction to the events in the story (thoughts/feelings). -Students will learn how to use ending punctuation, capitalize the first letter in a sentence, spell sight words correctly, and use letter sound knowledge to spell new words. Day 1: Think and plan a beginning, middle and end by drawing pictures. Day 2: Draft the story by using the details of the drawings. Day 3: Draft the story by using the details of the drawings. Day 4: Revise, edit and share stories. Each day will begin with a demonstration, and then children have time to write independently. The teacher confers with students individually during writing time to brainstorm ideas and give feedback. Included: - Graphic organizer - Writing paper - Checklists - Letter chart and

Sara graduated from the School of Education at Northwestern University and taught critical reading and writing skills in international primary schools in California, France and Africa. She has a bachelor's degree in French and a credential to teach English from Georgetown University, and was the head of the English department at an IB school in Africa. She recently founded the after-school program Whiz Kids International, which serves hundreds of students around the world.
While living and teaching in California she wrote articles for the local newspaper on child development topics, and her students from her Whiz Kids International program have also been published in their local newspapers. While living in France she founded the non-profit organization Kids' Turn Paris to support the social-emotional needs of children
Sara is very passionate about teaching literary skills to her students and encouraging them to be confident and successful readers and writers.評論
