Students learn to: -plan and write sentences -sound out words to write them -use punctuation and spacing to write sentences -spell sight words During each class I will demonstrate the above skills, and students will have time to practice these skills on their own with guidance. Students should be able to "listen for the sounds" and attempt to spell words. It's helpful if they know the names of the letters, but is not required. Writing Topics: Week of Sept. 2- Favorite afterschool activity Week of Sept. 9 - Favorite food Week of Sept. 16- Favorite weekend activity Week of Sept. 23 - Favorite place to visit Week of Sept. 30- Favorite book/movie Week of Oct. 7 - Favorite game/sport Week of Oct. 14- Favorite animal Students develop into confident writers with explicit instruction and regular practice.
