This class will examine the rich history of African Kingdoms and Empires in West, East, South, and Central Africa. Africa had thriving Empires before colonization as far back as 3000 BCE that traded with each other. Communities and societies were organized with well-defined professions, education systems, and judicial systems and cultures They learned how to smelt iron to make agricultural tools which increased food production and weapons for protection. Class taught by an African teacher who has first hand expertise and experience in African History, Customs and Culture. He holds a Masters in African Studies.
Slavery will be discussed in this class. Information will be taught in a respective manner but will not be sugarcoated.
