As this is the second in a year-long series of Ancient History classes, the student is expected to have completed the first fourteen weeks of the curriculum. This class uses the Curiosity Chronicles curriculum to teach Ancient History for 1st to 5th graders. Curiosity Chronicles teaches history via conversation between two main characters - Mona and Ted - allowing for the study of history to feel more fun than academic! The student textbook and activity guide will be provided for home use. I teach in a socratic style, preferring to ask students for their thoughts rather than impart my own. As a result, classes tend to be discussion-based. Each week, we will read a chapter of the student text, complete the student activity pages, and begin the coloring pages (meeting 1), as well as work on a timeline, complete map work, and finish our coloring pages (meeting 2). Our general class outline: Week 1: Hatshepsut Builds Wonders Week 2: King Tut Leaves a Mystery Week 3: India Writes the Vedas Week 4: The Zhou Make a Mandate Week 5: Assyria Makes War Week 6: West Africans Forge Iron Week 7: The Nok Make Pottery Week 8: The Greeks Sing of Heroes Week 9: The Olmec Play Ball Week 10: Persia Builds an Empire Week 11: Buddha Becomes Enlightened Week 12: China Debates Ideas Week 13: The Greeks Fight Persia Week 14: Athens Invents Democracy Students will have the option to read aloud or follow along, at their comfort level. This class is intended as an elementary history class, so while additional resources are listed in the textbook, we will cover them only as time permits. Students will need access to their textbook and each chapter's activity guide materials while in class.
學習目標
Students will gain an understanding of Ancient History. They will learn where civilizations started, and create a timeline to understand how many civilizations came into being simultaneously.

教師專業知識和證書
Hello! My name is Care, and I am a teacher by trade. I have extensive experience working with neurodivergent children - specifically those with ADHD, Anxiety, ASD, and gifted diagnoses. I love reading, knitting, Final Fantasy XIV, and Bluey!
I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education earned from Northern Illinois University. My teaching certificate is now out of date, as I have relocated to Canada. I have a wonderful spouse, and we have a thirteen year old child. Our household is body-positive, rainbow-themed, and neurodiverse. I enjoy spending time with kids, and talking with them to discover new ideas together.
In my classroom, learners and their families have the right to:
- Be treated with dignity and respect regardless of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, neurology, marital status, or sexual orientation
- A safe and healthy environment
- Be treated as your learner’s most important people
- Receive timely communication about the learner’s temperament, behavior, compliments and concerns
I am not perfect, but I do my best to try to help everyone feel included and accepted for who they are at all times!
