Explore Science and its many marvels during these Ongoing Science Lessons in Nonna's House. Each week will cover one of 34 different topics from the Common Core Science Essential Standards for Fourth Grade.

This is an ongoing course that meets once a week for 60 minutes. The Academic Year runs from September  through May.
AUTO-ENROLLED SESSIONS WILL FOLLOW THE SAME CALENDAR. EXAMPLE: YOU REGISTER TO START ON JANUARY 6th, YOU WILL BEGIN AT TOPIC 16 NOT TOPIC 1. ACADEMIC YEAR ENDS AT THE END OF MAY! The Entire year is 34 weeks however, if you start mid year you will not have access to prior classes already taught which will shorten your weeks from 34.

I believe that everyone learns their own way. To accommodate the different learning styles I will be following the 5E Science Lesson Plan which includes visual, auditory, and physical learning in each lesson**: 

5E Science Lesson Breakdown:
~3 min Welcome and lesson learning goals
Engage~ 5 min: Words to Know Introduction 
Explain~ 10-15 min: Reading Passage and Discussion 
Elaborate~ 15-20 min: Lesson Slides/ Notes and/or Videos  on Topic
Explore~ 20-25 min : Experiment and/or Activity for further understanding
Evaluate~ 5-10 min: Self Evaluation of lesson's learning goals and Student Share

This class will involve writing and reading at grade level or very close to grade level. If your child is not at grade level please notify me so that we can discuss any accommodations or needs prior to class.

  
A "Toolbox" of supplies (listed below in materials) is required EVERY week as well as handouts and experiment supplies that will be posted the week prior for each lesson. Toolbox supplies are: Science Notebook, 2 pocket Folder, pencils, highlighters, colored pencils, scissors, ruler, and glue.
Safety Equipment to have on hand as needed: Lab coat (a large white shirt will do), gloves, and safety goggles
Printer is required for this class

Students will self-assess themselves at the conclusion of each lesson based on the learning goals for each lesson and record their assessment on their assessment sheets.

~ Students will not be admitted beyond 5 minutes after class starts. The lesson will be in session and I will not have the opportunity to check the waiting room to admit students who are late. It is up to both the student and the parent to make sure you arrive to class on time. Refunds for missed classes will not be issued However, all classes are recorded so the student may watch at a later date to male up the class. 

~~ ALL Students are REQUIRED to be on-screen during the entirety of the class. Students who refuse to keep their cameras on will be given a warning then placed in the waiting room once. If they continue to have their camera off they will be bumped from class and no refund given (exception possible for those with video issues on a case by case basis). This is for YOUR child's safety as well as my preference to be able to see and connect with each student. If you have completed the process for no video usage during class than I recommend that this class is not what you are looking for.
