주당 1시간. I encourage every student to practice misspelled words from their pieces at home every day until they are mastered. It is proven that commonly used words account for approximately 80% of all written text. Proficient spellers become better writers, since their minds are then free from the pressure of spelling and can concentrate on the craft instead. After every class, I will email a worksheet which will concentrate on the weekly focus area. In addition, students are encouraged to spend 10-15 minutes per day in sustained, independent writing in order to foster skill growth.학습 평가

As a special educator, I understand how to meet learners at their present level of need and how to design lessons which foster skill development as well as self confidence. Each class will focus on a specific skill and will include time for practice as well as for sharing. After each class is complete, I will send one optional worksheet via email which focuses on the skill of the day. Learners are welcome to email it back to me or to share it at the next class if they would like to do so. These lessons are designed to be stand-alone sessions, so students do not have to attend all of them to be successful, although I have built-in review lessons which will cover a broad range of subjects previously taught. Those review lessons will cover a range of skills; however, students will not have to have attended previous classes to be successful in them. Classes will follow the following schedule: First, all learners will be given a chance to share their progress or a good thing that has happened since we met last. Second, I will give an explicit lesson about the skill to be learned which will follow the I do, We do, You do format. I will present well-written pieces to the class as examples to follow, the class will write something together, and then learners will be encouraged to try the skill themselves. Third, learners will develop the daily skill through an independent writing activity Last, everyone will be given a chance to share their new knowledge or creation with the class before we say good-bye. I will follow the following sequence: Week of June 9: Sentence review/ 6 W's (Who, What, Where, When, Why, How) Week of June 16: "Tired" words/ And/Then, commas, run-on sentences, incomplete sentences Week of June 23: Subject/Predicate Week of June 30: Adjectives/ Adverbs Week of July 7: Figurative Language Week of July 21: Dialogue/ Hook and Writing strategies (POWS) Week of July 28: Narrative Paragraph Week of August 4: Narrative Paragraph Week of August 11:Text supports (images, graphs, etc.) Week of August 18: Explanatory (expository) Paragraph Week of August 25: Explanatory (expository) Paragraph Week of September 8: Opinion Paragraph Week of September 15: Opinion Paragraph Week of September 22: Persuasive Paragraph Week of September 29: Persuasive Paragraph
