Let's write :)! The main focus for this class is for learners to brainstorm ideas, to transfer their ideas to paper, to write stories, to build stamina with writing, to boost confidence, and to share their writing (stories) with the teacher. 2-3 minutes- Discuss and brainstorm ideas for a story (fiction/non-fiction, story details, story sequence, etc.). 15-20 minutes- Write a story together, or help with writing a story independently (depending upon the child's writing level). Proofread story and make corrections where needed (corrections will depend on the writing level of each individual student). 2-3 minutes- Share/review story and discuss what was learned about writing lesson, skills practiced, any other closing thoughts about the story (or writing), and goodbye cheers :).

The goal for this class is to help students improve their writing, build self-confidence and stamina for writing stories. This class is also designed to help learners organize their thoughts when writing parts of a story. Most importantly, the goal of this class is to help children find, (or keep), the joy of writing.

I have been fully trained in the Lucy Calkins Writer's Workshop Curriculum. I have also attended numerous BER (Bureau of Education & Research) trainings focusing on Writer's Workshop and how to teach young learners how to write. As a lead teacher, I have conducted many workshops for new teachers focusing on the Writer's Workshop model.
