Check out our exciting daily schedule below! ❄️ Day 1: Welcome to Phoenix Manor - Warm Winter Vibes Day ❄️ Theme: Warm Winter Vibes (scarves, hats, blankets, hoodies, and more) Main Event: The Choosing Ceremony Activities: Get sorted into Nobilis, Fortorum, or Aptium dorms. Play "Ice Breaker Bingo" to earn initial dorm points. Dress up in cozy winter attire for more points. End the day with "Phoenix 5" game. 🎩 Day 2: History of Magic Day - Crazy Hair Day 🎩 Theme: Crazy Hair Day Main Event: Escape Room - The Dark Werewolf Escape Activities: Showcase Day 1 after-retreat work and crazy hairstyles for points. Solve an escape room featuring an evil Werewolf that's terrorizing Phoenix Manor students. Create the magical Moonlight Dagger. Highlight: Build and showcase the weapon that defeated the Shadow Serpent. 🧙♂️ Day 3: Battlecraft Magic Day - Wacky Tacky Day 🧙♂️ Theme: Tacky Christmas/Winter Main Event: The Summoning Ceremony Activities: Check everyone’s Tacky Christmas/Winter outfits and tally dorm points. Summon your Battlecraft Animal with chants and motions. Draw a the Werewolf that was terrorizing Phoenix Manor. Highlight: Learn and perform the Battlecraft summoning chant. 🧪 Day 4: Potions Day - Spirit Day (Wear your Dorm Colors) 🧪 Theme: Spirit Day (Dorm Colors) Main Event: Potion Making Activities: Show after-retreat work and display dorm spirit with colors, face paint, flags, etc. Make the famous Phoenix Manor drink—Warm Snowman Cocoa. Compete in some potions trivia. Tally dorm points and award the Golden Phoenix. Highlight: Sip on your Snowman Cocoa and celebrate with your dorm! Important Note: Don't worry about the supply list—substitutions are available! If dress-up days are a challenge, let me know, and I'll provide plenty of ideas. The Celestial Riftcaster: 4 Unsharpened Pencils; 2 heavy rubber bands; 2 push pins or thumb tacks; 1 small and 1 medium binder clip Warm Snowman Cocoa milk (if allergies can sub), cocoa powder, sugar, Whipped cream, Marshmallows, Chocolate chips (for decoration), Peppermint sticks (optional)

I have always been very curious and creative and I love to inspire it in kids (both my own and others) as well. I like to teach through projects, which give students a choice on the way they learn and show their understanding. I also love to teach through games and like to combine game elements in my classes.
I believe history, studied in context, to be extremely important. In fact, it's one of our best teachers. The other "subject" I believe to be of high importance is Logic. Unfortunately, logic has long been left off most curriculums. Knowing how to examine events and history through logical thinking and analysis gives us a deep, true understanding of our world.
I'm a big believer in every parent having all the need to school their children all the way through high school. So, if you are ever in doubt, let me encourage you.

I was a classroom teacher in the public schools for over 15 years and, for the past 14 years, have been helping my wife homeschool as well. I currently hold state certifications in Florida (certificate # 960883) in the areas of Middle Grades Social Science and Language Arts and Elementary Education. I have extensive classroom experience with all Elementary and Middle Grades subject content and have done private tutoring for many years in Math, Civics, Science, and Language Arts.
