We will be covering the topic of figurative language, specifically similes and metaphors. We will review the definitions of both while explaining the differences between the two. We will then go over why figurative language is used before going over examples. We will use video clips in addition to a discussion model. I have taught this lesson to both sixth and seventh graders multiple times, as a certified special education teacher. I co-taught middle school English with a general educator as well.
