Class Experience

US Grade 7 - 12
Beginner Level
This creative, one-on-one class is a fun and supportive space for students to explore ChatGPT through storytelling, silly prompts, and imaginative thinking. ✨ We don’t use ChatGPT for essays or schoolwork, just creativity, conversation, and helping students enjoy a space where their ideas can shine.

🔎 What to Expect

This class is a great fit for students who are brand new to ChatGPT or have just a little experience with it. I recommend starting with four sessions to help your child build a strong foundation in how to:

•	Use prompts clearly and creatively
•	Guide a conversation with ChatGPT
•	Explore ideas with confidence and curiosity

If your teen wants to continue beyond the first four sessions, we can dive deeper into creative projects like:

•	Developing fun or imaginative stories
•	Creating characters and silly back-and-forth chats
•	Exploring new themes through prompts they help shape

💬 How We Work Together

In the first session, I’ll do all the typing while your child helps shape the ideas. After that, it’s completely flexible:

•	Your child can keep guiding me, or try typing their own prompts if they’re ready
•	If you’d like to focus on something specific (reading aloud, typing practice, or communication) I’m happy to tailor the class to fit your goals

Each session is playful, creative, and guided. We’ll explore prompts like character creation, imaginary inventions, or silly world-building.

💡 In this class, your teen will:

•	Build confidence using their own voice and ideas
•	Practice asking strong questions and guiding AI responses
•	Strengthen reading, typing, and communication skills
•	Use their imagination to explore (not to complete schoolwork)

🧩 Creative projects may include:

•	Inventing magical or mysterious characters
•	Designing silly gadgets or imaginary tools
•	Creating story starters and fairy tale twists
•	Writing poems with fun or unexpected themes
•	Coming up with new holidays or traditions

This is the same class as my 45-minute version, just with a shorter time frame for students who prefer a quicker creative session or are just getting started.

📌 A Note on School Use:

We do not use ChatGPT for essays, reports, or anything related to schoolwork. This class focuses on ethical use, creativity, and helping your child guide the tool with their own original ideas. Everything we create is fictional, imaginative, and just for fun.

Learning Needs
I’m happy to adjust pacing, guidance, or flow to fit your child’s needs. Just let me know what helps them feel comfortable, and I’ll do my best to support them during our creative time together.
Parental Guidance
Both OpenAI and Outschool require that learners be at least 13 years old to use ChatGPT. According to OpenAI's policy, students under 18 must have permission from a parent or guardian to use the platform. A trusted adult should help set up the free ChatGPT account before class.
Pre-Requisites
No experience with AI or ChatGPT is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to explore! We’ll use a free ChatGPT account during class.
External Resources
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Sources
Students will need a free ChatGPT account to participate. A parent or guardian should help set up the account before class.

As a small business owner, I use ChatGPT almost every day to help me think creatively. Whether I’m brainstorming new project ideas, exploring different ways to phrase things, or organizing my thoughts, it’s become one of my favorite tools for stretching my imagination. I’m completely self-taught, and that’s part of what I love about it! ChatGPT is accessible, flexible, and can be used in all kinds of creative ways once you learn how to ask the right questions.

This class isn’t about coding or advanced tech skills. It’s about curiosity, communication, and finding fun ways to explore ideas. I’ve designed this experience to be gentle, supportive, and welcoming to beginners, especially kids who are new to using AI.

Before starting my business, I taught as a college professor, where I focused on helping students build real-world understanding through open conversation and ethical learning. That experience shaped my strong belief in guiding young learners to use tools like AI thoughtfully and responsibly. It's never to replace their thinking, but to expand it.

In this class, my goal is to create a space where your teen can feel confident, curious, and creative while learning how to use ChatGPT in ways that support their growth.
