ストーリーブッククック：サマーキャンプ版！

Let's combine quality children's literature with hands-on fun in the kitchen! 

In this class, learners will be assigned a different book to read before each meeting (no purchase necessary; check your library and Youtube for free read alouds!). Books for each week are listed below. Each day of camp, we will discuss the events in a different book and review the story elements. Learners will be invited to join in a group retelling as I lead a discussion with both comprehension and opinion-based questions. Discussions will be meant to inspire a love for literature and reading in young learners. 

Then, we will prep, create, and (if it does not need additional setting time) taste a treat that is related to the book! The time required to prepare the recipes each week may vary slightly, depending on the number of learners enrolled and their age/ability level, so some recipes may need additional setting or cooking time. This is a great way to encourage your child to try different foods and flavors they may not otherwise be interested in!

Ingredient lists will be provided a week before camp to allow for ample time to gather necessary ingredients. Fancy kitchen equipment and experience are not necessary. Recipes will be kid-friendly without too many complicated ingredients, but young learners may still need some assistance. Recipes will also be able to be altered to meet dietary restrictions as needed. 

Helping in the kitchen develops so many different skills for young children, such as:
-Direction following
-Kitchen and cooking skills and safety
-Ingredient knowledge 
-Fine motor skills
-Measuring 
-Science concepts 

**The class is set to 6 students to provide for a small group class, however, if you are looking to sign up as siblings and only see 1 spot left, please message me so I can open a spot for sibling(s).
