Beginner Level
This class is an ongoing format. Students will sketch a new landscape every week. Each week is charged as a subscription on Sunday mornings. Students can join or leave the series any week. We recommend beginners join our Fundamental Landscape Sketching Semester class before they proceed to this class: Landscape Sketching & Painting Full Semester Art Series: Beginner Fundamentals https://outschool.com/classes/df030256-affc-4b09-9e72-f7028090f043 Class will: 1. observe the relative positions of subjects, map out the frame, identify shapes and particularly look for shadow shapes (mapping light and dark) 2. learn how to use lines to create shapes and forms, how to use values to contrast light and dark to add shadows 3. learn to fit details into the drawing as a whole and develop a personal way of simplifying the details so that it is quicker to draw complex backgrounds 4. understand the principles of perspective, horizon line and vanishing point 5. create and complete with a story by adding surrounding elements like trees, clouds, animals and people Once they built a solid foundation and keep practicing, they will be able to design a multitude of unique landscapes of their own. Classes are highly interactive and students will have the opportunity to socialize and share their ideas in a fun and upbeat environment SCHEDULE December & January - A Perspective Study - Winter Holiday & Fantasy Landscapes December Week starting 11/25 - Alice's Wonderland Week starting 12/2 - Castle On A Hill Week starting 12/9 - Gingerbread House Week starting 12/16 - Northern Lights Week Starting 12/23 - Santa's Sleigh over Igloo (No Class Wed 12/25) January Week starting 12/30 - Snowglobe Town Week starting 1/6 - Giant Crystal Cavern Week starting 1/13 - Yeti Footprints Week starting 1/20 - Candyland Fantasy February & March - A Perspective Study - Spring Landscapes February Week Starting 1/27: Cherry Blossom Mountain Week Starting 2/3: Cafe Streetscene Week Starting 2/10: Monarch Flower Field Week Starting 2/17: Cows on Farm March Week Starting 2/24: Japanese Rock Garden Week Starting 3/3: Duckling Waterfall Week Starting 3/10: Secret Garden Door Week Starting 3/17: Bunny Tree Hollow Week Starting 3/24: Crane over River April & May - A Perspective Study - Natural Landscapes & Phenomena April Week Starting 3/31: Rainbow Week Starting 4/7: Solar Eclipse Week Starting 4/14: Massive Waterfall (No class on 4/20 Easter Sunday) Week Starting 4/21: Volcano Lava Flow May Week Starting 4/28: Mega Tornado Week Starting 5/5: Tsunami Week Starting 5/12: Lightning Storm Week Starting 5/19: Milky Way Week Starting 5/26: Hurricane June & July - A Perspective Study - Summer Tropical Landscapes June Week Starting 6/2: Sandcastle Week Starting 6/9: Sea Arch Week Starting 6/16: Sunglasses On The Sand Week Starting 6/23: Coral Reef July Week Starting 6/30: Tiki Totem On The Beach Week Starting 7/7: Whirlpool Week Starting 7/14: Seashell on The Sand Week Starting 7/21: Cave Diver August & September - A Perspective Study - World Landmarks & Adventures August Week Starting 7/28: Eiffel Tower in Paris Week Starting 8/4: Hot Balloon Rides in Turkey Week Starting 8/11: Taj Mahal in India Week Starting 8/18: Mountain Staircase in China Week Starting 8/25: Mayan Pyramid in Mexico September Week Starting 9/1: Ferris Wheel in New York City Week Starting 9/8: The Redeemer in Brazil Week Starting 9/15: Sphinx & Pyramids in Egypt Week Starting 9/22: Leaning Tower in Pisa Italy October & November - A Perspective Study - Animals in Autumn Landscapes October Week starting 9/29 - African Plains Elephants Week starting 10/6 - Dragon at Ship's Bay Week starting 10/13 - Wolf Howling Mountains Week starting 10/20 - Ocean Cave Bats November Week starting 10/27 - Raven Mausoleum Week starting 11/3 - Graveyard Black Cat Week starting 11/11 - Lighthouse Seagulls Week starting 11/18 - Tiger in the Jungle _______________________________________ Please read below for frequently-asked questions on our policies: Mandatory Video Check-In Video check-in is mandatory for safety purposes per Outschool policy. To receive a full refund, parents may withdraw or stop their subscription within 24 hours of payment OR 24 hours before class starts, whichever occurs earlier.
