Travel back in time to learn about the life of George Washington. We will spend our time together in the years 1750-1799 to understand Washington as a young British citizen, general of the Continental Army, a farmer and president of the United States. As we travel back in time, we will explore both the positive and negative aspects of George Washington including his complicated relationship with Native American tribes and the role of men, women and children who were enslaved. Through images, discussion, and primary sources the learners will gain an understanding of who George Washington was and how he shaped the United States. We will look at important locations in Washington’s life, read some of his own words and create a playlist with song titles that capture Washington’s life and legacy. Bring some paper to write on, a pencil, and an open mind to learning history!
