The price of this 1-1 session reflects the extra work put in for each session to personalize, evaluate and discuss goals and outcomes with the family outside of the actual time of the session. I strive to know the student well (likes, dislikes, interests, goals, strengths, weaknesses, accommodations and supports) in order to customize my lessons, presentations of ideas and assignments for the student to be more throughly engaged.

Tests do not provide diagnosis- only insight into Cognitive Functions.

#############################################################

With most students, we start off in the first lesson on Growth Mindset and what it means to learn. Learning is making connections in the brain, mistakes are opportunities for learning as more connections are made when making a mistake and/or struggling than when learning something in a straight line.

If the student is well versed in Growth Mindset, I will spend less time on explaining the concept and it's connection with learning. Typically, the first session ends with discussing a goal for improving in executive functioning.

If they are less motivated to improve in their academics, goal work will focus on other desires- their true motivating factors. All goals in life- whether it is to get good grades or to spend as little time as possible on schoolwork so there's more time for them to relax- leads back to executive functioning skills.

For younger students, I guide them through development of GRIT and strengthening the brain regions associated with developing executive functioning skills.

For older students, we work on specific goals that are important to them while building their executive functioning skills along the way. These skills transfer to other skills and areas as well- such as academics. For students needing study skills, I include instruction on the studying habits and methods that foster the most efficient learning according to the latest research while teaching them hacks of neuroscience to build motivation, focus and stamina.

Objective/Standards:
Students will understand what executive functioning is, why it's important, where their strengths and weakness lie and how to improve their own executive functioning skills.

Essential Question:
How can improving our executive functioning skills help us become more effective learners and problem solvers?

Lesson Activities:

What is Executive Functioning? Introduction to the concept of executive functioning and its importance. Students will take a questionnaire to discover their own strengths and weaknesses in Executive Functioning.

Following the questionnaire, students will have individualized crafted activities and self-reflections activities to help build on their weakness with the aid of their strengths.

Some of the following areas will be included in this:

Growth Mindset. Instruction and self-reflections on Growth Mindset with activities to practice and improve this skill.

Working Memory. Instruction and self-reflections focused on working memory with activities to practice and improve this skill.

Cognitive Flexibility. Instruction and self-reflections focused on cognitive flexibility with activities to practice and improve this skill.
