このクラスで学べること

Important Notes: All of my classes are inclusive. Classes are suitable for the neurodiverse child.
CEFR: B1-B2 or above.

In this one-time Art History/Studio Art class, Learner is introduced to Inspiration & Synesthesia as sparks for creation, discovering artists who have experienced both, including Van Gogh among others; and further understands this unique ability of our senses to interpret each other in a creative way (it is considered a cross-wiring of the brain), as in our hearing sense seeing the music in a visual way in shapes and colors.

In addition, Learner will see how art pieces may inspire artists whether it is a poem inspiring a sonata, and then a sonata inspiring a painting.

The class is structured as process art, meaning the journey of creating freely is more relevant than the final art piece itself. Also, it is a time for sensorial engagement which brings learner to the present moment with the joy of self-expression.

The class starts with a friendly introduction, a short and vibrant slide presentation covering examples of inspiration & synesthesia in art history; then being serenaded by Debussy's adagio, Clair de Lune, learner will "draw" then "paint" what he "hears" and "feels". This part of the class follows a warm up first drawing how the music feels in terms of lines, then shapes, and finally colors, before proceeding to create a work of art that reflects how the music was perceived and experienced. At the end, the new creators will write their own Artist Statement.

Teaching style is kind, inclusive, emphasizing enthusiasm for the arts, with fascinating learning, discovery, and a time and space to foster relaxation and free artistic self-expression.
For a sense of community engagement, gauging Learner's interest level, and to be able to adjust accordingly, open mics and videos are required in class.

This class is ideal for the kid who loves music and visual arts and/or just wants a moment to feel the joy and freedom of being a creator.

Class size is kept small to allow ample time for learner's comments or questions, as well as sharing concepts about composition, such as positive and negative spaces, ways to draw with harder/softer lines, curves, and more.
This class may be complemented by other Art History classes that follow a timeline through a kid-friendly central theme that spark the young Learner's interests in cultures of the world and the arts (found under Social Studies).

No previous experience is required.
