Stumped by the skill of summarizing? Well, suffer no more! Students will learn more about the skill of summarizing fiction using scenes from their favorite TV programs...and maybe even discover some new favorites along the way! Through my engaging PowerPoints and discussion questions, I will make sure that every student is involved in the process of summarizing so that they will emerge from this workshop better at summarizing than when they entered! The workshop structure will be the same on both days: 1. Welcome/Roll Call 2. Discussion--What makes a good summary? 3. Examples of good fiction summaries 4. Fiction summary practice 5. Debriefing/Wrap-up All video clips used are in the public domain.

-Teacher will be using video clips from Youtube. All videos will be screenshared and are age-appropriate.
-If time, teacher will also be screensharing a summarizing Kahoot activity. Child must have second device ready at the end of class to answer the Kahoot questions onscreen.
