Looking for a fun and engaging adventure/fantasy series? “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” is a hilariously-written book series, with a TV series adaptation on Disney Plus, that does a great job teaching kids about Greek Mythology. No prior knowledge of the series necessary. If you want a great children’s & teen’s book series that immerses you in the world of mythology, this is the book club for you! The two-week course will cover topics in English and Social Studies as we discuss the story from Book 1: "The Lightning Thief" and Book 2: "Sea of Monsters". All students will read the assigned chapters in these page-turners prior to each meeting. Each class meeting will adhere to the following format: 1. Welcome/Roll Call 2. Icebreaker 3. Discussion of Chapters Read 4. Concluding thoughts 5. Interactive Mythology Comprehension Check and Activities (Kahoot; Quizziz; Jeopardy, etc.) See you soon, as we embark on the quest to find the Lightning Thief!

--To assess student comprehension of chapters, I will be utilizing the Kahoot app almost every class. Students must have access to a second device for Kahoot. I will be using screen share for the Kahoot questions.
--I will be screensharing YouTube for any relevant clips that I will be using.
--I will occasionally share my screen to show PowerPoint slides.
