Tarea
There will not be homework, however, there will be a "Challenge" at the end, that puts together everything that we've gone over as a class. Throughout the lesson, I will explain how to do ONE specific thing, and give examples for the students. Then, they will try on their own to do that ONE thing. In the end, there will be a challenge combining everything learned in the course. In each class after the first, there will be a challenge in the beginning of class as well, reviewing the previous class's work.
Evaluación
At the beginning of each course, we will "review" previous courses to what everyone remembers.

Experiencia de clase

In the first class, Python Basics will be covered, including What Python is (besides being just a popular programming language) and What Python can do, as well as Data Types (like Strings, Booleans, Floats, and integers), Print Functions, Writing our first "Hello, World!" The program, and learning about Variables and Concatenation of Strings. Students will be learning via Zoom. The instructor will have access to view their screens and help them with their code.

In the second class, we will dive in a little bit more with Python basics. We will learn about the Type() function, which lets you see the specific data type you're working with. We will also learn how to convert to float, integer and string data types. There's also the len() function, which lets you know the length of a string. Then we will focus on doing Math with Python! We will be finding the Min and Max, as well as doing addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and two new "coding math" operators: the modulus and integer division! Students will then have a challenge where we put together everything we've learned to complete a problem.

In the third class, we will dive in a little bit more with Python basics. At this point, students will be expected to know basic concepts. We will learn about the Order of Operations and the way that you complete problems, Comparison Operators (They are: !=, <, >, <=, >=), Logical Operators (And, or & not), as well as the Level of Importance of Operators (figuring out what operators to complete first, in order of importance from greatest to least), Updating Variables (x += # and x-= #) as well as the Input() Function! Students will then have a challenge where we put together everything we've learned to complete a problem. In this course, we will be creating our first program/game!

In the fourth class, we will learn about the IF….ELIF…ELSE statement, the While Loop, the Break & Continue in loops, & the for loop. As well as the dangers of an infinite loop. Students will then have a challenge where we put together everything we've learned to complete a problem. In this course, we will be creating our second program!

In each class, students will be learning via Zoom. I will have access to view their screens and help them with their code. Throughout the lesson, I will explain how to do ONE specific thing at a time, for example, we will learn how to use the if statement to generate certain outcomes, like, “If the color is RED, print the following: xyz. IF the color is blue, print the following: xyz.” Students will communicate with the instructor and each other via Zoom. We will take turns sharing our screens and our code. *If I teach with less than the minimum, the course will not run for full time.
