Nivel Intermediate
Your student will learn how to code with Python, one of the world's most popular coding languages. The goal of this class is for students to move from beginner to intermediate Python developers. We will work on some projects like a Ceaser cipher, an interactive graph for representing real-world data, a music predictor using machine learning, and a real-time weather application. All the students in the last 3 weeks will work on their own Python project and complete a 5-minute presentation to the class. ***Students should already have a very good understanding of variables, functions, conditional statements, and loops before starting this class. Please, see parental guidance for more information*** Week 1 Review Conditional Statements, Functions, Loops Python Error Handling Python Try/ Except Python Try/ Except/ Else Try/Except/ Else/ Finally Ceaser Cipher Project Introduction Ceaser Cipher Background Ceaser Cipher Project Week 2 Finish Ceaser Cipher Porject Introduction to Object-Oriented Programming Introduction to Python Classes Student Enrollment Projectn Mini-Project Organizing Our Code Week 3 Introduction to APIs APIs and Data Sources Creating Graphical User Interfaces with Python Tkinter for Applications Start Real-Time Weather Application Project Week 4 Real-Time Weather Application Project Working with APIs Testing Applications Week 5 Working with Lists List Comprehensions Working with Data Part 2 Introduction to NumPy Introduction to Pandas Library CSV files and Data Structure Week 6 Introduction to Matplotlib Python Pandas Exercises Python Interactive Graphing Project What is Data Science? These projects include: Ceaser Cipher NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day Student Enrollment Mini-Project Interactive Data Science Graph Project Machine Learning Exam Grade Prediction Student Project Project Presentation These projects allow students to apply what they have learned with Python while building fun projects! Interactive Groups Every student is strongly encouraged to post questions, sample code, and their projects every step of the way. This gives students the chance to learn from each other and start practicing reading code.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will continue learning more about Python and start exploring a wide variety of projects. Students will also explore more uses for Python, including working with data, interactive graphical user interfaces, and data science.

Orientación para padres
Learners will use Microsoft's Visual Studio Code for this class, which is a free download. Visual Studio Code is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux computers. Students will use the main Python Website (Python.org) as references throughout the class. Open Weather Map will be utilized for our API project using real-time weather data. Python libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, and Scikit-learn will be utilized in the latter part of the course for data science and machine learning projects.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Licenciatura desde Mount St. Mary's University
Over 5,000 students from nearly 100 countries across a variety of platforms have started coding in one of my classes. I offer classes covering the foundations of Python and AI. I am the author of the soon-to-be released book All About Python for Kids. Before teaching, I worked as a software developer for nearly 10 years. I've worked for organizations including Apple, Dell, and Best Buy. I believe the best way to learn is by doing and all my classes are based around hands-on projects that progressively build in difficulty. I'm a graduate of Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland. I can't wait to meet your learner in the class and get started soon.
