Experiencia de clase

Nivel de inglés: desconocido
Grado de EE. UU. Preschool - 1
In this interactive flexible schedule class, learners will engage with memorable visuals in videos, participate in multi-sensory interactions, practice with tactile tracing, utilize creative memory ideas, and learn repeatable sayings to help them recognize and complete the correct formation of the similar letters b, d, p, q, m, and w!

This class involves joyful play that packs a KVAT punch, based on the Orton-Gillingham approach, which I am trained in for dyslexia. This highly effective approach helps students retain their knowledge through a combination of kinesthetic, visual, auditory, and tactile clues and practices. Your learner will have fun while retaining important skills that help with becoming a confident, lifelong reader and writer!

Each week, the class has a similar structure. Students will review the letter names and sounds individually and learn a fun, catchy phrase to repeat while forming the letter with the correct directionality in a variety of ways. Then we will focus on the differences between two similar letters through play and multi-sensory communication.

Class Layout
Week 1: b and d multi-sensory, tactile practice with 4 videos and 4 worksheets or crafts
Week 2: p and q multi-sensory, tactile practice with 4 videos and 4 worksheets or crafts
Week 3: m and w multi-sensory, tactile practice with 4 videos and 4 worksheets or crafts
Week 4: Review, Creative Discussion, and Games on Nearpod with games touchscreen option and non-touchscreen

Nearpod Games(no account needed):
-Matching Pairs
-Time to Climb
-Memory Game

We will utilize teacher videos with student interaction, where students use tactile tracing, kinesthetic skywriting, silly voices, and finger tracing on a touchscreen using Nearpod for those who have a touch screen. Students without a touch screen can easily participate by utilizing a dry erase board and marker, paper and pencil, or a computer mouse on screen for this part of the class.

During our review portions, we will use online Nearpod games, such as memory pairing and letter matching for directionality.
Students will be encouraged to participate in classroom discussion surrounding scavenger hunt prompts to find objects that begin with the letter we are practicing. We will also build letters out of household objects to practice directionality. We will have opportunities to take pictures and post videos of the letters and objects that we hunt for around the house based on the prompts given each week. Students may also choose to post their completed worksheets. There will be a portion where learners can not only share their favorite way of remembering the letter, but can also choose to introduce a new, creative way to remember!

Every letter will have the following joyfully provided:
-video of 1-3 vivid visuals paired with sayings to help with directionality
-interactive video of 3 skywriting, tactile writing, and handwriting examples
-optional worksheet for practice with sayings provided posted in the classroom
-optional worksheet for letter building, opportunity to post in the classroom discussion after prompted
-hand signal and visual sheet for differentiating between the letter given and a similar letter
-online game such as matching, identifying, or memory
-classroom discussion post prompting optional scavenger hunt to share findings with group through picture, video, or text
-ideas for fun, at-home practice that can be shared back with the group posted in the classroom
-opportunity for child to give voice and choice on favorite ways to practice and show to others through classroom discussion
-opportunity to interact with other learners' posts that answer prompts (photos/videos of letter building, tracing/writing, letter finds)

If your child loves to play to learn, is a hands-on learner, or needs help differentiating letters, this is the class for you!

Examples of Letter Sayings and Visuals
We will use the phrase, "Take the bat and hit the ball" to practice forming a lowercase b in multi-sensory gross motor and fine motor ways and on a given worksheet or touch screen. Students will be encouraged to build a b on their worksheet mat and post pictures, videos, or text in the classroom. We will include some interactive fun and baseball videos here. Other strategies for recognizing the lowercase b will also be shown and practiced during class to provide choices for your child on which one clicks best with him/her. Some of these include "Grab the bubble gum stick/wand and blow the bubble", as well as making a capital B and erasing the top bubble.
We will use visuals like the "thumbs-up" bed to remember which way "b" and "d" each face with a corresponding worksheet. Children will also be provided a "Mr. Beady Eyes" Worksheet to make into b and d glasses as a tool.

We will then use the phrase, "Turn the doorknob, go up the door, and down again" for the correct formation of the lowercase letter d. We will also turn our "d' into a dog! Another saying we will use is "Around the drum, up to grab the drumsticks, and down to play the drums." We will play games to tell the difference between b and d. Scavenger hunts will be posted in the classroom to form the letter, find the letter, and build the letter out of household objects. Learner will have the opportunity to share their favorite ways to remember how to form the letters. Learners will be able to comment on each other's pictures and posts in the classroom.

Next, we will differentiate between our p's and q's, m's and w's with a similar structure. Then we will play fun games together to differentiate among the letters with a lot of encouragement and joy. Lessons will be posted on Sundays at 5 pm Eastern time zone. Feedback to learner posts and discussion will be provided within 24 hours to ensure a positive, upbeat, interactive learning experience.

With videos, games, worksheets, and interactive posts, this is sure to be a fun time that will stick with your learner in helping them differentiate among those pesky letters.

We will use visual, kinesthetic, auditory, and tactile multi-sensory strategies and tools to have a fun time learning this way for each of our letter reversals. Come enjoy this fun time together working on and playing on a skill that will last a lifetime!
