This class will cover eight weeks of eight classes. Students will meet once a week and be introduced to the world of horse judging. Learners will develop their skills through a judges’ perspective and learn about what it takes to be a horse judge. This class will be focused on scoring events, identifying quality in individual horses and beginning to understand the reasons behind the placing of a class. Class is set up as an interactive discussion and lecture for students to understand horse judging. During class, I use a slideshow, YouTube and photos to teach students. Any hand-outs that are needed during class will be provided by me. As an educator, I like to bring my classes to life through pictures, videos and real life examples. This class is extensive and will be in-depth for learners. This class not only offers the ability to learn about horse judging but, also begins the public speaking side of horse judging such as, reasons. Students will learn how to develop a basic set of reasons and will work on delivering the reasons to the class. This a great introduction to the world of public speaking. Great class for those who may want to become a horse judge, compete competitively with their horses, or want to gain knowledge of desirable qualities and movements within the horse.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will improve on learning terminology, identifying quality traits in horses, discover various equestrian events and improve public speaking and presentation skills while learning how to develop reasons. Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
In my high school career, I had the great opportunity to be a part of my FFA (Future Farmers of America) Horse Judging team. I competed with my team for all four years of high school. Each year, our team went to the state competition where I won gold each year among other highly competitive schools. After high school, I attended college and took horse judging courses to further develop my eye for judging. Now I serve as a judge at local shows as I am currently working towards earning my judging card for larger shows around the US.
