*All instructors are certified financial educators by the national financial educators' council* This Flex course will provide students with engaging lessons and presentations to inspire them to make positive financial decisions. Students will be provided with access to engaging lessons and assignments to participate in interactive simulations and assessments. Videos will be uploaded weekly along with practice assignments, homework, and additional resources. Students will use the Outschool classroom to access all materials and homework. The weekly schedule will include the following: Monday: Pre-Recorded video lesson with exposure and instruction of the concept. Students will be given homework to choose from to complete by Thursday. Tuesday & Wednesday: Students will work on their assignments on their own. They can message me for additional assistance during this time. Thursday: Review activity will be posted. These financial literacy lessons will integrate real-world and engaging topics. Students will be provided with several different options for homework every week which include visual, real-world, and concrete assignments. Students will have the opportunity to engage with one another through platforms such as Flipgrid and discussions in the Outschool classroom. Students will participate in engaging and interactive platforms such as Kahoot, EdPuzzle, and Quizziz in order for me to accurately assess. The following topics will be covered throughout the course. Week 1: Financial Decisions -How can I make the best decisions for my future? Week 2: Making a Financial Plan -How do I create a plan to reach my goal(s)? -What motivates me to work and persevere in my goals? Week 3: Accounts and Savings -How can I best manage my money? -Why would I want to save my money Week 4: Budgets -What are my short-term and long-term goals? Week 5: Income and Careers, and Entrepreneurship -Do I like working with people or do I prefer working with things/ideas? Week 6: Entrepreneurship -How will my interests and skills help me in choosing a career or start a business? Week 7: Credit vs. Cash -What is credit? -How can I make purchases with or without cash? Week 8: Debt and Loans -How much does it cost me to buy something on credit? -How can I decide the best payment method for my purchases?
