Grado de EE. UU. 3
This class follows the 3rd Grade 1st quarter class. This class will only run with 2 or more students.

Students will be encouraged to discuss how they solve problems, ask questions, and interact with the teacher and other students in the class.

Day 1: Telling time: how many seconds make a minute? How many minutes make an hour? How many hours in a day? Skip counting by 5's. Telling time to the nearest 5 minutes.
Day 2:Telling time to the nearest minute.
Day 3: Telling time- elapsed time
Day 4: Solve word problems involving time intervals within 1 hour by
counting backward and forward using the number line and clock.
Day 5: Solve word problems involving time intervals within 1 hour by
adding and subtracting on the number line.
Day 6: Round two-digit measurements to the nearest ten on the
vertical number line.
Day 7: Round two- and three-digit numbers to the nearest ten on the
vertical number line.
Day 8: Round to the nearest hundred on the vertical number line.
Day 9: Build and decompose a kilogram to reason about the size and
weight of 1 kilogram, 100 grams, 10 grams, and 1 gram.
Day 10: Develop estimation strategies by reasoning about the weight in
kilograms of a series of familiar objects to establish mental
benchmark measures.
Day 11: Solve one-step word problems involving metric weights within
100 and estimate to reason about solutions.
Day 12: Decompose a liter to reason about the size of 1 liter, 100
milliliters, 10 milliliters, and 1 milliliter.
Day 13: Estimate and measure liquid volume in liters and milliliters using
the vertical number line.
Day 14: Solve mixed word problems involving all four operations with
grams, kilograms, liters, and milliliters given in the same units.
Day 15: Add measurements using the standard algorithm to compose
larger units once.
Day 16: Add measurements using the standard algorithm to compose
larger units twice.
Day 17: Estimate sums by rounding and apply to solve measurement
word problems
Day 18: Decompose once to subtract measurements including three-digit minuends with zeros in the tens or ones place.
Day 19: Decompose twice to subtract measurements including three-digit minuends with zeros in the tens and ones places.
Day 20: Estimate differences by rounding and apply to solve
measurement word problems.
Day 21: Estimate sums and differences of measurements by rounding,
and then solve mixed word problems.
Day 22: Review Telling time and rounding
Day 23: Review measurement
Day 24: Assessment
Metas de aprendizaje
3.MD.1 Tell and write time to the nearest minute and measure time intervals in minutes. Solve word
problems involving addition and subtraction of time intervals in minutes, e.g., by representing
the problem on a number line diagram.
3.MD.2 Measure and estimate liquid volumes and masses of objects using standard units of grams (g),
kilograms (kg), and liters (l). Add, subtract, multiply, or divide to solve one-step word
problems involving masses or volumes that are given in the same units, e.g., by using drawings
(such as a beaker with a measurement scale) to represent the problem

2.MD.1 Measure the length of an object by selecting and using appropriate tools such as rulers,
yardsticks, meter sticks, and measuring tapes.
2.MD.3 Estimate lengths using units of inches, feet, centimeters, and meters.
2.MD.4 Measure to determine how much longer one object is than another, expressing the length
difference in terms of a standard length unit.

MP.2 Reason abstractly or quantitatively. Students decontextualize metric measurements and
time intervals in minutes as they solve problems involving addition, subtraction, and
multiplication. They round to estimate, and then precisely solve problems, evaluating
solutions with reference to units and with respect to real-world contexts.
MP.4 Model with mathematics. Students model measurements on the place value chart. They
create drawings and diagrams and write equations to model and solve word problems
involving metric units and intervals of time in minutes

Hi, my name is Madison. I have a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Social Science and Math. I have a 9 year old son and a 6 year old daughter. We love to play outside and create art with the things we find in nature. I believe that children should have a passion for learning. So let's make things FUN and INTERESTING!
