Learners will interact with both teacher and other students to solve two-digit addition and subtraction problems. We begin class with a minds-on picture to elicit math talk and sharing followed by mental math practice focusing on a specific strategy each week. Learners should have a basic understanding of making tens and place value (tens and ones). We will use this thinking to break apart numbers and develop strategies to solve mental math equations.
