In this one time, motivational class, students will learn about the 8 ways to be smart.

Class experience

Students will be able to identify the 8 different intelligences and identify which one(s) is their strength. Students will also be able to identify study and organizational skills related to their areas of strength.
Every first week of school, I taught a variation of this class. As a special education teacher, my students often struggled in academic areas, but excelled in other ways. I find the topic of multiple intelligences fascinating and have spent time researching it.
For each intelligence we discuss, students will tally up how many of the characteristics fit them. I will provide a printable handout to help make this easier. If you do not have access to a printer, this can be done on a piece of paper.
Multiple intelligence theory was originally developed by Dr. Howard Gardner.
