In this one time class we will read passages from the hilarious picture book Dear Mrs. LaRue by: Mark Teague noticing the point of view from which the story is written. Then, we will discuss persuasive techniques that the character in the story uses to convince the reader of the letters to act on the main character's behalf. Next, we will learn how to write our own friendly letter incorporating persuasive techniques. We will examine how to use the RAFT technique to help organize our thoughts before beginning to write a letter. Finally, we will write our letters and share what we have written.
