Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
In this class, we will discuss how to take a piece of writing all the way through the writing process beginning with an idea and ending with a publication celebration. Starting on Monday we will discuss how to generate ideas for writing by using various graphic organizers. Students will be encouraged to find their favorite graphic organizer and begin brainstorming ideas for their writing. On Tuesday, we will begin creating a rough draft on a topic of interest to each student by using the writing strategy of freewriting. We will also examine different ideas for organizing writing. On Wednesday, we will define what revising is and utilize different strategies to improve writing. On Thursday, we will learn to edit and proofread writing by using editing symbols and simple checklists. Students will then begin to create their final draft. On Friday, we will have a celebration day by bringing some special snacks and drinks to class and celebrate all of our hard work and effort by sharing our work with the class.

Thank you for taking the time to check out my profile! I love learning and I love to inspire kids to get excited about learning! I have a degree in Psychology and I am certified to teach both English and English as a Second Language. I have been teaching for fifteen years. I taught middle school English, Reading, and Creative Writing in the public school system for eight years, and I have been homeschooling my two daughters for eight years. I have been teaching online for four years and I love it! My writing has been featured in Seeing the Everyday magazine.

I strive to make my classroom an inviting, safe, and happy place where all learners can grow. My goal is to offer a well-rounded Language Arts program taught in a fun and encouraging environment. I teach a variety of classes focusing on reading comprehension, writing, poetry, and oral language skills. I also offer one on one tutoring as well. I have something to meet the needs of all types of learners! I even have life skills classes and some fun pet classes where we learn how to care for bunnies, cats, gerbils, and hamsters! I can’t wait to meet your child!

When I am not teaching, I love to read, write, research best practices of teaching, crochet, play board games with my family, and take family vacations to learn more about nature, science, and history. You can often find me reading a book on time management or how to organize and clean your home more effectively! I love learning! Let's learn and have fun together!
