Assessment
By request, you can also receive a rubric score based on the Common Core State Standards for each writing type. These scores should not be used as a grade for the student since there are standards on the rubric that we have yet to have time to cover in our 25-minute class together. Parents, you can use these scores as a benchmark for parents to see how their child is doing according to 3rd-grade standards.Class Experience

Discover how to craft a complete essay in just 25 minutes with this fast-paced class designed to simplify writing. This class aligns with 3rd-grade writing standards. The topic of each essay is already chosen by the teacher and will rotate through narrative, informational, opinion, and descriptive writing. Say goodbye to writing struggles and experience how easy it can be to write from start to finish! This class is not designed to be weekly. You can book as often as you like, but I recommend once every two weeks at the most. Essay writing is important but should not be a weekly assignment for this age group. What You'll Learn: - Structure your thoughts into 4-5 organized paragraphs. - Focus on mastering a specific writing skill each session. Topics Covered: - The 5 Steps of Writing: Prewrite, Draft, Revise, Edit, and Publish. - One mini-lesson in each class: transitions, imagery, topic sentence, closing sentence, complete sentences, relevant details, purpose, audience, word choice, rearranging sentences, variety of sentences, similes, character development, plot, main idea, etc. Each lesson is standalone, featuring a unique writing prompt. The teacher will choose the topic. We cannot use other writing prompts since each lesson has a theme that works together in an organized way. This is intentional and ensures we can write a focused essay during class. Class Structure: - 2 mins: Intro - 5 mins: Prewrite - 5 mins: Rough Draft - 6 mins: Mini-lesson - 5 mins: Revise - 2 mins: Re-read & Edit You’ll receive your finished writing within 48 hours, with all writing done during class—no homework required. I handle the typing, so there is no need for pens or typing skills. Teaching Style: I use the "I do, we do, you do" approach to build confidence step-by-step. Interaction is encouraged throughout the lesson, with support tailored to your needs. Requirements: Proficiency in English grammar and the ability to articulate thoughts are needed. The learner must already know how to write a sentence without help. The class assumes basic sentence structure skills, focusing on grammar and spelling edits. Experience the joy of seeing your finished work and sharing it with others. The 25-minute format ensures a productive, enjoyable session without feeling overwhelming. Cancellation Policy: I follow Outschool's refund policy.
