The level 2A IEW curriculum provides intermediate writing instruction, focusing on enhancing students writing skills through structured lessons that cover many writing styles/techniques. This class focuses on the second 1/2 of student book.

Homework
1-2 hours per week. Work not completed in class will be assigned outside of class. It is optional for learners to turn in their papers, but if they do, papers will be corrected and rubric will be sent.
Assessment
A rubric will be provided for all papers turned in

Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 6
The IEW Level 2A curriculum is designed for students who have a basic understanding of writing and are ready to build on their skills. This intermediate course offers step-by-step lessons that guide students through various writing styles, including narratives, reports, and essays. Each lesson focuses on specific techniques to enhance clarity, creativity, and structure in writing, helping students become more confident and proficient writers.

In this course, students will engage in a variety of writing activities that develop their ability to organize thoughts, use descriptive language, and craft well-structured sentences and paragraphs. With a mix of instruction, practice, and feedback, the Level 2A curriculum ensures that students not only learn the mechanics of writing but also enjoy the process, fostering a lifelong appreciation for effective communication.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of narrative and summary writing styles through studying and retelling other texts, utilizing keyword outline to guide the writing process and adding stylistic techniques to further enhance final writing pieces.

Lesson 1:
Summarizing multiple references
 This lesson focuses on using multiple references to gather important notes and then choosing the very best facts to condense into a fused outline that will be used to write a two paragraph report

 Continuing to write a two paragraph report about sugar by summarizing multiple references

Lesson 3:
Summarizing multiple references
 This lesson again focuses on summarizing multiple references about gardening in order to write a three paragraph report with three fused outlines

Lesson 4:
Summarizing multiple reference
 Learning a new sentence opener, the #3 l y adverb opener
