In this class, we will be learning how to write a repetitive poem or a repeating poem. In class, I will begin by introducing this type of poetry through a description and information to this poem. We will then go over an example poem. I will explain what is done in this poem to help them understand it. We will then work on a repeating poem together as a class. I will then give the students time in class to create a poem for themselves. They will get plenty of time to work on this poem. After they have written this poem, we will share our poems with the class. I will always try to give feedback for every poem to help strengthen their writing. My class follows the "I do, We do, You do" format to help them fully understand how to create this poem. The students will be given opportunities in class to read, answer questions and share their poems. The students will need to know how to form sentences.
Learning Goals
The students will be able to create their own repeating poem.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello. I am a reading and literacy teacher. I want to help students with reading by sparking their interests and kindling their passion. In our classes, we will be reading a variety of books and texts, discussing them, learning how to decipher them, and doing various assignments that help them show their understanding of the text. I am also planning to read texts with historic themes to help tie in history content. Eventually, I will add a few Spanish courses for various ages to begin their Spanish literacy.
I studied Elementary Education and Spanish at Western Carolina University. Through this experience, I worked in an after school program that taught ESL students. This program helped the students with homework, life skills, and experiences. We also enriched their English through different activities to help give them a safe place to explore the English language. To complete my bachelor's degree, I also had an internship year where I worked with a teacher in a third grade classroom. Later, after graduating, I became a teacher with the company VIPKid. I have been with this company for almost 2 years. Through this company, I teach Chinese students English through interactive lessons.
My goal in teaching is to inspire my students to follow their passions. I want to help spark their love of reading. I hated reading growing up and did not fall in love with reading until I was a freshman in college. I missed out on so many adventures and amazing books. My hope is to fuel my students passion for reading through reading intriguing books to show them reading can be fun, interesting, and adventurous. I also want to create a safe place in my classroom where my students feel free to have discussions about the different books we read. These discussions help readers to think about the book and prod their thinking. This method also can help other struggling readers understand what is going on in the book and connect pieces that their fellow classmates have gathered. We will then do a project that will be interesting and fun to help them show what they have learned or show off their writing skills.
Reading is an essential part of our world. It is how we communicate, learn new information, and present ourselves. I believe in bringing in multiple subjects with reading. My favorite subject to tie in with reading is history. There are so many books that can help students paint the picture what happened. We will then bring in other sources to give students a full picture of the events.
During the week, you would find me curled up with a book, drinking tea, working on our house with my husband, or playing with my niece. I love spending time with my family and friends whenever I get the chance. I also love doing various DIY projects for our house. I am never stagnant for long.
