Write Your Name in Japanese Calligraphy!

No prior experience or knowledge required!

What will be taught?
-Students will learn the 3 basic types of calligraphy strokes used when painting Japanese characters.
-They will then learn to write Japanese characters that can be used to represent their own names.
- The teacher will check the work of students and provide feedback so they can improve on their next try.
- Students are encouraged to make multiple drafts of their names so that they can improve until they are happy with the result.

How is the Class Structured?
- The teacher will first introduce the basic strokes and tips for writing Japanese characters, like how to hold the brush.
- The teacher will give examples of how to draw each stroke, and some practice characters for everyone to try out to get the hang how it feels.
- The teacher will go around to each student and teach them how to write their individual names. If students are waiting their turn, they should practice the example words.
-Students will be encouraged to show the teacher their work and the teacher will provide feedback on how they can improve
- Students will get a chance to draw multiple drafts and ask questions throughout the class.
