In this 1-time class, we use learn the basics of modern calligraphy using brush-tip calligraphy markers. We'll practice basic strokes and learn about applying various pressures to master upstrokes and downstrokes.
Class experience
Beginner - Intermediate Level
This class is for beginner students who want to start their journey with calligraphy writing. Students are encouraged to use brush markers (flexible pointed tipped markers) for this class. We will begin class by learning about the differences between cursive and calligraphy. Next, we will learn about applying different pressures with our markers to master the upstroke (light pressure) and the thicker downstroke (heavier pressure). 1 file available upon enrollmentTo be sure to print the attached Brushpen Practice Worksheet that is posted in the classroom. Students should come equipped with brush markers, or calligraphy markers (towbow, etc), or dip calligraphy pens (the most challenging of the three). Please also bring a few sheets of printer paper to practice forming words and letters.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
