Modern Calligraphy Basics 101: Modern Calligraphy Class for Beginners

In my classroom, I strive to create an encouraging, creative, and engaging environment where students can grow both artistically and academically. As a former K–8 Art Teacher, most of my classes focus on the visual arts—calligraphy, hand-lettering, drawing, design, and script writing. These are subjects I’m truly passionate about, and I love making them fun and approachable for all learners.

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with a concentration in Marketing, Design, and Communications, as well as an Advanced TEFL Teaching Certification. I began teaching on Outschool in 2021, after spending 3 years teaching ESL to Chinese students online—where I completed over 3,600 classes! Before that, I taught Art, Spelling, and Cursive at a local classical school and had the joy of working with every grade from Kindergarten through 8th. I also bring nearly a decade of experience as a University Adviser, where I helped college students navigate their academic and career goals. Most recently, I’ve been supporting early learners in Pre-K and Kindergarten at a private school.

Outside the classroom, I’m also an artist and entrepreneur. In 2015, I launched an online clothing and gift shop featuring my hand-drawn lettering and designs. Our work was even featured on BuzzFeed and the Huffington Post! It’s been a blast transforming simple sketches into products sold across the U.S. and beyond.

When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, making art, exercising, and reading. I can’t wait to meet your student and create something awesome together!
