Class
Lindsay Horne, M. Ed
Average rating:4.9Number of reviews:(188)
In this one-time class, we will study the Supreme Court case "In re Gault" and determine what rights youth have under the U.S. Constitution, specifically relating to the 14th amendment.

Class experience

Students will leave class with a clear understanding of the 14th amendment to the U.S. Constitution, as well as the concept of due process under the Constitution. They will be able to argue how it is applied to youth through the Supreme Court case "In re Gault." They will learn about the history of the judicial system and how youth have been affected by its processes throughout history.
I am a Civics/Economics teacher in the Virginia public school system. This lesson is an integral part of the due process unit I actively teach.
A one-page handout will be provided upon enrollment to the class.
None - there is a reference to the defendant making indecent phone calls but no additional information or context is given. I present this as prank calling was what he was accused of.
