In this interactive 4 week course we will watch a chick develop inside of an egg right through to hatching. A chick takes 21 days to develop and hatch. Students will learn about the life cycle, see the chick develop and change each week through a special incubator microscope and discuss the different parts of the egg and chick. Week 1: What is Embryology, and Oology? The egg and chick! An introduction. Week 2: What is inside the egg this week? Week 3: Feathers, beak and hatching. What is next? Week 4: Hatching time; chicks and growing up, the life cycle. There are no suggested prerequisites needed for this course, no background knowledge is required, you just need curiosity and a willingness to learn. Students will learn through videos, pdf handouts, power-points, optional worksheet assignments, and resource links. Interacting in the classroom is also possible as mentioned above. Assessment is optional, a completion certificate will be issued. Two options are available, one for participation in the course, the other is an optional certificate with an assessment grade, using a Kahoot quiz. Please specify when registering what your preference will be.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a poultry farmer, and have farmed for over 20 years. I am also a 4H leader and owner of an embryology program which provides hatching projects and educational content for learners from pre-school to high school. I have taught in this area for over 11 years.
