Class Experience

In this ongoing class, students will learn to identify nouns and describe them with adjectives through play and discussion with their peers.
Learners will bring their favorite toys and toy sets to class to play with and share about by naming the nouns (their toys) and then describing them with adjectives.  They will get to set up and play with their toys or toy sets and tell the class whether they have a story they are following or just building a set to see it complete.  Students will also get to ask each other questions about the toys they brought to work on naming nouns of items they do not have.  The teacher will model this behavior with a toy set by moving pieces around to and talking about what they are called as nouns and describing them with adjectives.
Class will include a mini-lesson on nouns and adjectives after introductions at the beginning and then follow a socially inviting format for the rest of class.  This repeating class will allow students to bring different toys each week if they desire, or continue to bring their favorite ones and learn new nouns from their classmates, as well.
Week of 1/30: Nouns and adjectives will be defined, examples given, and the rest of the class will be student led as far as naming nouns and adjectives.
Week of 2/6: Nouns and adjectives will be defined, examples given, and the rest of the class will be student led as far as naming nouns and adjectives.
Week of 2/13: Nouns and adjectives will be defined, examples given, and the rest of the class will be student led as far as naming nouns and adjectives.
Week of 2/20: Nouns and adjectives will be defined, examples given, and the rest of the class will be student led as far as naming nouns and adjectives.
Every week will review the definition of a noun and adjective and then give students the chance to practice through play.  The material will not build on each week; this class allows students to have ongoing practice with the same concept each week.

Hello!  Thank you for sharing this time with me!  My name is Mrs. Bloom, and I love teaching kids!  My goal is to allow my students to experience learning hands on, and to encourage them to think and express themselves in a positive way.  With over 23 years of experience working with kids in multiple capacities, including volunteering at camps, running kids programs, working as a teacher, and raising and homeschooling my own child, I have a huge variety of experiences from which I can pull to create fun and engaging classes for my students!  Since we are expected to integrate information from multiple areas when we approach a problem in real life, my classes are taught from this interdisciplinary perspective.  This allows students to ask questions, explore, and discover information that is interesting and relevant, motivating them to become lifelong learners.
