Weekly Club: Virtual Chat Time for Inclusive Teens, Autism, and Socialization
In this weekly virtual chat, teens with and without special needs will discuss, vote on and expand upon a variety of given topics related to their lives. This is great for peer tutors and other learners who love getting to know new friends!
Class Experience
This is a great class for a learner who enjoys peer tutoring, getting to know new friends, or socializing in a stress free environment! Class will begin with basic greetings about who we are, our age and where we are from. For the first class, students will suggest a variety of topics for the week and we will discuss each one briefly so that all students understand the topic or idea. For example, students might suggest a new movie or an upcoming holiday. Sensitive topics will be avoided...
- Students will enjoy positive interactions with peers.
I was a classroom teacher for students with Autism and have a degree in Special Education. I have taught social skills classes for students with Autism. I was the advisor for our peer tutoring program when I worked at a middle school. I love providing inclusive experiences for all children.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
