Weekly Club: Virtual Chat Time for Inclusive Teens, Autism, and Socialization
What's included
1 live meeting
45 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
This is a great class for a learner who enjoys peer tutoring, getting to know new friends, or socializing in a stress free environment! Class will begin with basic greetings about who we are, our age and where we are from. For the first class, students will suggest a variety of topics for the week and we will discuss each one briefly so that all students understand the topic or idea. For example, students might suggest a new movie or an upcoming holiday. Sensitive topics will be avoided and a variety of topics will always be included! *In subsequent classes, the topics suggestions will be made at the end of class for the following week. Students will then vote on the week’s topics and ideas to focus on during the class. We will choose one idea as the main discussion by voting as a group. We will also record the runner’s up topics. For the main topic, students will be able to freely discuss, with guidance as needed. The teacher will prepare slideshows with photos, videos and related media for each topic. We may use tools like Venn Diagrams and charts to keep track of ideas in the discussion. At the end of the topic discussion, students will each have the option to share something new they learned about the topic. Students will then have the option for free talk at the end of class. They may choose to discuss a runner’s up topic or something else. The teacher will support students to stay on topic, transition and express their ideas as needed. Before we end class, students will supply suggestions for topics for the next meeting. We will wrap up with a summary of our chat and “See you later!” Please reach out about other times! Thank you!
