Welcome to Mystical Alchemist: Potions & Social Club. In this class we explore the world of magic. Each week students will get a potion card for the new potion we will be making together in class. We start our class by making a special potion together. The remainder of class will be time for socializing and playing some magical games like Fairyland bingo, Giant/Elf/Wizard, Witch would you rather, Unicorn treasure hunt, and more. *THESE POTIONS ARE NOT FOR CUNSUMPTION. DO NOT DRINK! MATERIALS: Each week students will need some type of jar with a lid for their potion. A list of specific ingredients for each potion will be sent out on Sundays with an ingredient card you can print out. Most ingredients will be common household items. Sometimes students will need to “forage” for their ingredients prior to class starting (sticks, grass, rocks, etc.) Other ingredients are more vague like “something shiny” where students can use whatever they have on hand (glitter, gems, a coin, etc.). Each potion requires 5 ingredients with one always being water. I will post the master list below. Not all ingredients will be required for each potion. MASTER LIST: Common Ingredients: Water, sand, dirt, rocks, sticks, grass, herbs, flowers, flower petals, leaves, seeds, salt, sugar, baking soda, ice, something shiny, glitter, food dye (R,Y,G,B). Specialty Ingredients: These are ingredients that will be used for more specific potions and may only be used once or twice. Since these ingredients are less common, I will also list them below in the weekly schedule so you can plan ahead. Lemon, something gold, seashells, tea bags, bubble solution, feathers, citric acid. *THESE POTIONS ARE NOT FOR CUNSUMPTION. DO NOT DRINK! WEEKLY SCHEDULE: Week of January 5th POTION: Happiness Potion SPECIALTY INGREDIENT: Lemon GAME/CRAFT/ACTIVITY: Mug of happiness MATERIALS: PDF will be sent. Something to draw with (crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc.) Week of January 12th POTION: Freezing Potion GAME/CRAFT/ACTIVITY: Salt paint snowflakes MATERIALS: PDF will be sent, white glue, table salt, watercolor paint or food coloring, paint brush. Week of January 19th POTION: Mermaid Potion SPECIALTY INGREDIENT: 3 seashells & sand GAME/CRAFT/ACTIVITY: Mermaid emoji game MATERIALS: PDF will be sent Week of January 26th POTION: Laughter Potion SPECIALTY INGREDIENTS: Bubble solution & a feather GAME/CRAFT/ACTIVITY: Bubble painting MATERIALS: Paper, bubbles, paint, bowls or cups (enough for the amount of colors your child will be using), and a straw. Week of February 2nd POTION: Strength Potion GAME/CRAFT/ACTIVITY: Paper strength test MATERIALS: 4 pieces of paper, tape, and a handful of books to stack onto the paper to test its strength. Week of February 9th POTION: Love Potion GAME/CRAFT/ACTIVITY: Love potion valentines MATERIALS: PDF will be sent. We will be making mini love potion kits. Students will need extra ingredients (flower petals, sugar, and something shiny) as well as a container to gift (this can be mini bottles, plastic bags, or anything else you would like to use). If you are using bottles, you will need a hole punch and string to attach the potion cards. If you are using bags, you can tape the potion card to the bag. NO CLASS THE WEEK OF FEBRUARY 16TH - 22ND Week of February 23rd POTION: Pirate Potion SPECIALTY INGREDIENT: Something gold GAME/CRAFT/ACTIVITY: Treasure map MATERIALS: PDF will be sent, something to draw with (colored pencils, markers, crayons) Week of March 2nd POTION: Unicorn Potion SPECIALTY INGREDIENT: Glitter GAME/CRAFT/ACTIVITY: Unicorn horn hat MATERIALS: PDF will be sent. Students will also need a string, hole punch, scissors, glue and anything they want to decorate their horn with. They can use tissue paper, glitter, pom poms, or any other craft items. Week of March 9th POTION: Sleeping Potion SPECIALTY INGREDIENT: Sand & a feather GAME/CRAFT/ACTIVITY: Galaxy bottle MATERIALS: Bottle or jar with lid, water, light corn syrup, food coloring, and glitter Week of March 16th POTION: Vitality Potion SPECIALTY INGREDIENT: Honey GAME/CRAFT/ACTIVITY: Movement games MATERIALS: None Week of March 23rd POTION: Luck Potion SPECIALTY INGREDIENT: Something gold GAME/CRAFT/ACTIVITY: 4 Leaf clover wreath MATERIALS: A PDF will be sent to print out, paper plate, different shades of green (markers, colored pencils, or crayons), glue or glue stick, scissors, and string. Week of March 30th POTION: Healing Potion SPECIALTY INGREDIENT: Tea bag or loose tea GAME/CRAFT/ACTIVITY: Zen garden MATERIALS: Something for your garden (bowl, plate, or cardboard box), sand, fork, and things to decorate your zen garden (crystals, rocks, moss, sticks, miniatures. Anything else you child would like to add.) Week of April 6th *This weeks activity requires more materials than normal* POTION: Shrinking Potion SPECIALTY INGREDIENT: Bubbles GAME/CRAFT/ACTIVITY: Mini pom pom monsters MATERIALS: A PDF will be sent, a variety of pom pom sizes, a variety of googly eye sizes, something to color with, scissors, and glue. Week of April 13th POTION: Growth Potion GAME/CRAFT/ACTIVITY: Seed bomb pops MATERIALS: Bowl, soil (nothing with fertilizers in it. We will be using our hands), clay (air dry clay, red clay, bentonite clay are all great. Any clay should work just fine), flower seeds, popsicle sticks, tissue paper, water, and string. Week of April 20th (THERE WILL BE NO CLASS ON SUNDAY APRIL 20TH) POTION: Speed Potion SPECIALTY INGREDIENT: Sand GAME/CRAFT/ACTIVITY: Paper spinners MATERIALS: 1 piece of white cardstock, something to color with, and scissors Week of April 27th POTION: Fizzy Fairy Potion SPECIALTY INGREDIENT: Citric acid & baking soda GAME/CRAFT/ACTIVITY: Fairyland Bingo MATERIALS: A PDF will be sent Week of May 4th POTION: Aging Potion GAME/CRAFT/ACTIVITY: Who will I be when I grow up? MATERIALS: A PDF will be sent to print, something to color with.

Hello, my name is Ms. Sam and I'm so glad you're here.
As a dedicated lifelong learner, I have always strived to continue learning, especially when it comes to social and emotional skills, mindfulness, growth mindset and creative expression. I have been a homeschool mom for 6 years and have been working with other homeschool children ages 3 to 9 for the past 4 years. My goal is to make class fun and engaging while encouraging students to use their imaginations and get creative.
I teach classes covering a wide range of SEL & Mindfulness topics. Ongoing classes do not build upon each other, and learners can jump into them at any time. Topics include but are not limited to -
Self-Awareness: Emotion identification, confidence, calm down techniques, growth mindset, self-esteem
Social Awareness: Empathy, kindness, listening skills, inclusion, communication
Self-Management: Emotional regulation, coping skills, accountability
Relationship Skills: Setting healthy boundaries, conflict resolution, gratitude, cooperation, responsible decision making.
Mindfulness: Meditation, mindful breathing, grounding, relaxation, intentions, positive affirmations
I feel it is deeply important to continue to learn about yourself and to grow as a person, and I am a firm believer that equipping children with these skills will give them the building blocks to become confident, kind and successful adults.
