Assessment
At the conclusion of each meeting, learners will have exquisite manifestations of what they have learned. This class creates space for learning through experimentation. Experience- related questions will be asked of each participant at the end of each lesson, this fermenting this knowledge through verbal expression.

Class Experience

This weekly drawing class will borrow methods from Waldorf Form drawing levels 1-3. At each meeting, the teacher will “read the room” to best assess what techniques and shapes would best suit the group. (Hence, the varied range of levels 1-3). The looseness and ease of this style gives students a unique, and personalized experience through their journey of Waldorf Art. As with other Waldorf activities, there will be a strong concentration on seasonal imagery, slowness, curiosity, and nourishment. This an interactive, teacher guided experience, where students are invited to share their work progress and thoughts at many points through out the class. These opportunities for verbal reflection inspire a deeper, and life - long curiosity inherent to students of this educational approach. Those with a variety of educational backgrounds are encouraged, welcomed, and will also enjoy and benefit from this style and approach. Friends who are completely unfamiliar with this approach to art making are also invited ! It is important to me to make this educational approach available to the widest array of students possible. I am so excited to bring my passion for this Art style to anyone and everyone within the appropriate age group.
Learning Goals
Through a variety of Form drawing exercises and projects, students will refine their craft, while deepening their understanding of complimentary colors, relationships, proportion, and shape. Enhanced fine motor skills and control will be improved organically through process- oriented works. Students will learn more about themselves, as we work on portrayals of the world around us, while giving our imaginations the opportunity to soar

Hello, Art enthusiasts! I am a multi-disciplinary artist working in New York City. As a teaching artist, I have been working in Public school in-school residency programs for the past nineteen years(!)...most recently with a concentration in Visual Arts. Many of these partnerships involved very direct coordination with students’ academic teachers, so that the Art projects enriched comprehension. I prioritize recyclable materials, and their environmental importance. I have extensions experience with literacy, and STEM-based residencies, in particular.

Over the past few years I have worked with every age, from early childhood to high school. I have seen first hand, how the affects of arts education through residency partnerships transform and enhance students’ lives. I am often very inspired by the creativity and commitment young students bring to these projects. In addition to Visual Art, I teach music composition, ‘Cello, and Guitar.

I am an alumna of the Juilliard School and the Teaching Artist Project. My supporting teacher experience at the Rudolph Steiner School in Manhattan combines Waldorf ideology with these other skills. I am on the NYC DOE substitute teacher roster. This mixture of public and private practice has prepared me to serve students from a wide range of backgrounds.

I try to incorporate physical balance into art making, often a skill that is considered “inactive”. Over the past two years my mindful Art workshops have been requested by public schools and administrative teams across NYC. I have worked extensively with groups and individuals on the spectrum, and as a Visual Art Consultant for students dealing with trauma.

I am a 2020 Legacy Arts Project recipient, and recently received the New York City Arts in Education Roundtable Teaching Artist Grant.
